Jack Teagarden


Jack Teagarden (1905-1964) was a Jazz trombonist from a whole family of musicians born in Vernon, Texas.  He was most popular in the swing and big band eras of Jazz and is widely considered to be one of the greatest trombonists of all time. At the height of his   success, he was greeted as a hero in his home town and given the key to the city. Teagarden is still widely discussed in Jazz circles and with over sixty CDs  recently reissued, and his world-wide reputation as a Jazz innovator and a Texas music legend remains undiminished.

Jack Teagarden’s career was legendary; in addition to playing with all of the great bands and musicians of his time, Jack appeared in several movies, on television, and was even featured in two cartoons by Woody Woodpecker creator Walter Lantz!
